AOE - 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon - Napa Valley
Like so many Greek organizations, Alpha Phi is grounded in sacred traditions, one of which is the meaning behind AOE. Its meaning, of course, is kept secret until each member is officially initiated into the Fraternity. These letters are as cherished as any of Alpha Phi’s other symbols, like the ivy leaf, the Ursa Major constellation, the lily of the valley or even the forget-me-not.
Speaking of traditions, the floral border on this particular label was originally drawn by Martha Foote Crow (Alpha-Syracuse) on a handwritten transcription of Alpha Phi's ritual bound in soft tan leather as a gift for the Beta-Northwestern chapter in September 1913.
We introduce you to AOE. Cab is king. And in a vintage like this, it shows, as our standard bearer is big, dark, structured and showy. With aromas of blackberry, kirsch and cedar, over a hint of pencil lead. Dense, dark, intense and with sweet fruits on the palate, it is a big wine that will benefit from decanting or giving it time to air as it reveals more layers and depth with each sip.
From all of us at Alpha Phi, AOE.
